Caractérisation métrologique et morphologique automatique des sinus de Valsalva par analyse d'images


The sinus of Valsalva are outgrowth in aortic root. It allows the correct opening of cardiac valves without contact and without obstruction of coronary arteries. Today, measurements on medical imaging (ultrasound, MRI) are subjective and are not normalised. Moreover, when a replacement of the aortic root is required, the shape of the prosthesis is not perfectly adapted to patient morphology. The aim of this PhD thesis is to develop a new software in order to help practitioner in the segmentation, the measurement and the diagnosis of the sinus of Valsalva and in order to model (in 3D) the aortic root for prosthesis design. Il construit avec son équipe une machine qui génère des trous noirs artificiels dans le but de découvrir s'il est possible de voyager dans des mondes parallèles ou dans le temps. Achever son invention est devenu son seul but dans la vie depuis que sa femme est prématurément décédée. Il garde au fond de lui l'espoir fou de la retrouver un jour...ailleurs...
Cette nouvelle est un mélange de plusieurs réflexions sur la possible déshumanisation de la société, le rapport de l'homme avec son environnement et ses pairs, les conséquences des découvertes scientifiques, les croyances et la relative notion de réalité.

Ephysis

Univers un peu mythique, antique, avec une pointe de piraterie. Ephysis est une jeune femme amnésique qui se retrouve malgré elle prisonnière d'une île mystérieuse. Elle l'ignore mais cette captivité est le résultat de conflits d'intérêt entre les personnes les plus influentes de ce monde, pour qui les gens ne sont parfois que des pions dans leurs stratégies. Ecrit sous forme d'une trentaine de chapitres très brefs, ce récit relate la quête de liberté (partie 1), de vérité (partie 2) et de justice (partie 3) de cette héroïne. Le récit initial, hommage à peine voilé à un celèbre mythe grecque, était uniquement restreint à la première partie. Les parties 2 et 3 constituent une suite alternative riche en rebondissements et en explications. ephysis

Professional Experience

2009 Le2i laboratory, University of Burgundy, a 4 month training (research) :
I made a viewer for medical images (format : JPEG pyramidal tiles). Display time improved by mean of caches. Interface with selection and measurement tools.
2008 Prooftag, Authentification by a chaosmetric technology, a 5 months training :
I built a digital signature based on an optical chaosmetric solution (called "bubbletag") and made the software which creates this signature and uses it to recognize and to compare bubbletags.
2007 Prooftag , a 4 months training :
Study & implémentation of mathematical morphology & wavelets methods.
I made a software to test these methods on Prooftag's technology.

Quantifying myocardial infusion by MRI

As a muscle, the human heart also needs to be constantly irrigated with blood to maintain proper function. However, there are cases where the infusion (the amount of blood sent to the heart muscle) is dangerously abnormal. It is therefore essential to quantify precisely the infusion to treat diseases. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a relatively recent medical video footage to identify problems and to treat early enough. A MRI viewer and myocardial monitor assist the cardiologist. The work of this project was to add tools to this application to segment myocardial into several segments, to compute intensities over time in each segment and make a graphic overview of results.
François Thimon made the display of curves and their interpretation. I implemented the customizable segmentation, its look and methods to compute infusions values.

Designing a video game with CImg: Shufflepuck Legend

Shufflepuck Café is a famous video game born in 1989, a simple game of rackets and shuffleboard. The aim of this project was to design a new "clone" of this game based solely on the C++ treatment of images open source and multi-platform library : CImg. CImg has indeed functionality beyond the simple processing of images, particularly regarding keyboard and mouse events handling. In solo mode, the only player uses the mouse to play whereas in duo the second player uses the keyboard. souris (mode solo) ou au clavier pour un second joueur humain. Graphics, special effects, sound and music are Jean-Louis Griffon & Guillaume Brincin's work. The physics engine was produced by Haitam El Ouart and myself. I also entirely conceived and implemented the artificial intelligence.

Movies using ffmpeg

Today there is many owners or free video formats. In view of their diversity, it is interesting to have open source tools such as ffmpeg and ffdshow to quite simply manipulate, analyze and convert these videos. In many areas such as cinema tricks, it was sometimes necessary to move our field of vision within large images (panorama). A software named ffcam has been created, to enable navigation in an image using a feature of ffmpeg. With this, required videos are generated to validate a tool which is developed in the research laboratory GREYC to estimate movements. projet1

Last training (research)

This training in Le2i(Laboratoire Électronique, Informatique et Image) in Dijon is about the development and time optimization of a medical imaging viewer. Images are stored in a online server. Images are cut in JPEG pyramid tiles. They are imported and uncompressed on the local computer in order to display.
The new viewer uses the anticipation of movements inside an image (translation and rescaling) by means of several caches which store the closest tiles (neighborhood) and previous tiles (browser history).
Moreover, selection and measurement tools have been included and interface has been studied to be convenient and helpful for medical diagnosis.
This work is a part of the PharmImage project.

3rd training

The main aim of this last training is the elaboration of a stable or unique signature from a visual authentication solution based on a chaosmetrics technology. To test, validate choices and use methods, an image processing and arithmetic software with a graphic interface was developed. Used methods were not imposed, nor known what led to start by a search and a study of several solutions. To succeed in this task an existing application and the results of the previous training have been used.
As an engineering student, I appreciate this work because it has allowed me to apply lessons I have received throughout the curriculum, both in image processing, coding, as in other areas of information technology. It also required understanding of the needs, expectations and constraints, planning tasks, searching for solutions and verifying the results.

2nd training

A "bubbletag" is a physical random code made in a completely chaotic way and which can't be copied. It allows a high authentication of an object or document. This unique code is made by the Prooftag compagny, a subsidiary of Novatec. The code control is done visually or through a reader (a special camera) that captures and compares codes with those recorded in a database.
Our research is on these captured images. The goal here is to find different treatments to extract, from these images, a unique signature for each code and therefore invariant, whatever the image of the same code. To do this, we used fuzzy morphology and wavelet theory, both methods employed today in many fields of image processing such as compression, recognition or fingerprint analysis of textures.
These two aspects were included in a single application, developed in C++ using the MFC, and bringing together all the functions of the two theories and other more general functions.

1st training

For the optional first year training I chose to spend four weeks in a rural sales and service firm, specialized in selling and repairing farm equipment, installation and maintenance of treatment rooms. It was possible to see all its activities and works to get an overall picture of the company. So I observed the daily troubleshooting, after sale service , the workshop and storage, commercial procedures, billing, accounting. After this discovery period, I was able to apply my skills to carry out promotional materials for the company. stage1

Accordion Keyboard

Accordion Keyboard lets you play the accordion by taping on your computer keyboard! The arrangement of keys is faithful to that of the instrument, so you can learn to play or compose your own melodies. The application supports playback and recording performed songs using akm file format. A midi file of the performed song is also writen.

I am an accordion player and I can not always have it with me (it is bulky and noisy). So I had the idea to create this new software that simply emulates an accordion on any computer. The first two versions had been coded using "3D-Games Creator" (sounds emulation by midi files for the first version and playing wav recorded files for the second). The third version is the first written in C++ and offering an user-friendly interface. This last version has a new resizable interface, an ASIO sound and the export in the midi format.

Stilo

Stilo is the 192 091 215th Tetris-like proposed in the short history of video games (figure to be confirmed). Developed for the GameArt ENSICAEN club, this game does not offer eccentric mods or pieces but simply Tetris classical levels with increasing speed and saved high scores. The buttons can be configured according to your own desires. Despite its sleek concept, this version seduced by its handling and comfort, really close to the original version. stilo

One of my ohter hobbies is drawing on paper, often made in black and white and sometimes digitally colored. At my school in the ENSICAEN, I crerated lots of drawings of the mascot: the kangaroo (or marsupial). They illustrated the covers of periodic students fanzine for 2 years and bags or T-Shirt for a sports tournament.
